SAU 16 is Hiring a STEAM Teacher Near Stratham, NH

Position:
The SAU 16's Cooperative School District is seeking a full time Technology / STEAM Teacher starting school year 2024-25. This position is responsible for assisting with the development of an middle school STEAM-infused school setting, teaching all students as a specialist/integrated arts teacher. The role includes planning and expanding efforts that support high quality integrative STEAM and technology education for 6-8 students in the Cooperative Middle School.
In addition, this position serves as a model of learning and leadership of technology education, by participating in and providing technology integration, staff development and support for teachers and staff. The role requires innovative/creative teaching practices, strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff. Candidate must have a deep understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards, NET-S, and NH College and Career Ready Standards. A passion for creativity, innovation, inquiry and Project-Based Learning is a must.
Essential Functions

  • Communicating with students in an understandable, effective way about daily lessons and instructions
  • Establishing clear learning objectives and developing these with their students
  • Collaborating with a school’s administration in enforcing rules of behavior, class participation and conduct for students
  • Developing flexible, effective teaching tools and methods to help students learn mathematics
  • Creating and assigning learning projects, essays, tests, quizzes and homework for students, then grading their performance accurately on these assignments
  • Working with students individually if they need extra help and support in their math coursework
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, spelling, literature and other content areas taught.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Certification/License:

  • NH State Certification in Science (5-8), Technology/Enginering and/or Mathematics Middle- or Upper-Level.
Education:
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Masters Degree in related area preferred.

Experience:
Successful prior teaching experiences in STEAM a plus.
